Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a Manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

We are looking for competent, skilled and experienced Graduate trainee, Systems Developer to join our team in Uganda.

 

Job Title:   Graduate Trainee, Systems Developer

Location:  Kampala

Department: IT

Reports to:  Group Support Infrastructure & Operations Lead 

 

Job Summary

Support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal systems, while building the technical foundation to grow into a full Software Developer. The trainee works under the guidance of senior developers, contributing to real project work while developing practical skills across the group technology stack (AWS, Supabase, Typescript, SQL, Python)

Key Responsibilities

Development & Delivery

  • Assist senior developers in building and maintaining features across internal platforms, under supervision and review.
  • Write clean, modular, well-documented code that follows team standards.
  • Support the identification, documentation, and resolution of minor system defects.
  • Contribute to API and integration tasks with guidance from senior team members.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Carry out manual testing and test-case execution on new and existing features.
  • Prepare and validate test data ahead of releases.
  • Log defects clearly and follow up with responsible team members through to resolution.

System Configuration & Support

  • Support configuration and setup tasks, such as employee, project, and data setup on the Seminal platform.
  • Assist with internal user support and issue tracking within agreed service levels.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and promptly to senior team members.


Documentation & Learning

  • Maintain accurate technical and process documentation.
  • Apply AI tools appropriately to accelerate learning and delivery.
  • Participate actively in training, mentorship, and self-study to build proficiency across the stack.

Learning & Development

  • This is a structured traineeship. Over the course of the programme, the trainee is expected to:
  • Build working proficiency in the group core stack for the systems.
  • Progress from supervised tasks to independent ownership of small, well-defined features.
  • Complete assigned training milestones each quarter.
  • Receive and act on regular feedback from senior developers and the team lead.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language for front end and backend each ((AWS, Supabase, Typescript, SQL, Python).
  • Understanding of basic software development concepts, including version control, databases, and web fundamentals

Skills & Competencies

  • Eagerness to learn and openness to feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow defined processes.
  • Sound problem-solving aptitude.
  • Familiarity with Git and relational databases is an added advantage
