Job Purpose

The Quality Auditor- Maintenance conducts audits, inspections, spot checks, observations and product audits within Maintenance & Engineering and Continuing Airworthiness Management activities, including contracted maintenance providers, to verify compliance with applicable civil aviation regulations, IOSA ISARPs, approved maintenance documents and programmes, organisational procedures and OEM technical requirements.

The role identifies non-conformities, monitors corrective actions and supports continuous improvement while maintaining auditor independence and objectivity.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct planned, ad-hoc and follow-up audits, inspections, spot checks and observations of Continuing Airworthiness Management and Maintenance & Engineering activities in accordance with the approved Quality Assurance Program, audit procedures and schedules.
  • Prepare audit plans, scope-specific checklists and working documents for assigned maintenance audits, ensuring audit criteria reflect applicable regulations, IOSA ISARPs, company manuals, approved maintenance data and OEM requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable civil aviation regulations, IOSA Maintenance standards, the Quality Systems Manual, CAME/MOE, MCM, approved aircraft maintenance programmes, maintenance procedures and associated technical documentation.
  • Perform product and aircraft audits for each applicable aircraft type and adjust the audit focus when fleet, maintenance programme, maintenance documentation or contracted maintenance arrangements change.
  • Audit and monitor Approved Maintenance Organisations, contracted maintenance providers, vendors, subcontractors and suppliers of airworthiness products and services to verify continued compliance with airline and regulatory requirements.
  • During aircraft audits, review work packs and work cards and observe maintenance activities to verify that work is performed and signed off in accordance with current approved maintenance data using the correct tools and equipment.
  • Verify defect rectification against applicable maintenance manuals, regulatory requirements and procedures detailed in the MCM, and confirm that removed parts are correctly identified, labelled and segregated.
  • Check tools and equipment for serviceability and calibration status and review relevant maintenance facilities, records, personnel qualifications and training, and associated management and control systems.
  • Gather and document objective evidence, conduct audit interviews and opening/closing meetings as assigned, and maintain professional, fair, transparent and confidential audit conduct.
  • Identify and report non-conformities, observations, potential hazards and opportunities for improvement, and prepare formal audit reports for submission to the Head of Quality.
  • Review Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Plans and Final Action Taken evidence; follow up implementation within agreed timelines, assess effectiveness and recommend findings for closure.
  • Monitor trends, repetitive findings and systemic compliance issues, escalating significant or high-risk concerns to the Head of Quality for appropriate action.
  • Maintain complete, traceable and controlled audit records, including audit plans, checklists, objective evidence, reports and corrective-action follow-up records, within approved electronic repositories.
  • Support UCAA, IOSA and other external or certification audits by preparing compliance evidence, status information and follow-up actions, and participate in joint audits with Flight Operations auditors where required for ATOs, AMOs and Flight Data Analysis activities.
  • Maintain auditor independence, competence and currency through required initial, recurrent and scope qualification training and regular audit participation, and perform other Quality Assurance duties assigned by the Head of Quality


Education and Experience

  • Recognised technical diploma or bachelor’s degree qualification in Aviation, Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ aviation operational experience in Maintenance & Engineering, Continuing Airworthiness Management or another relevant maintenance technical field.
  • Good knowledge of applicable Civil Aviation Regulations, maintenance requirements, operating standards and relevant company procedures.
  • Training in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Internal Auditing/Auditor Training.
  • Training in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and other relevant aviation quality or safety courses is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and continuing airworthiness documentation, including applicable maintenance manuals, maintenance programmes, technical procedures and OEM documentation.
  • Previous experience conducting or participating in aviation quality audits, maintenance audits, inspections, surveillance or compliance monitoring is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with IOSA Maintenance standards and airline Quality Assurance requirements is an added advantage.

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance, continuing airworthiness and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the assigned audit scope.
  • Ability to interpret civil aviation regulations, IOSA ISARPs, approved maintenance manuals, maintenance programmes, organisational procedures and OEM technical documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of audit principles, procedures and techniques, including audit planning, objective evidence gathering, reporting, follow-up and closure.
  • Ability to plan and conduct risk-based audits, inspections, spot checks and product audits in a consistent and systematic manner.
  • Ability to evaluate work packs, maintenance activities, defect rectification, parts control, tools and equipment calibration status, maintenance records and related compliance evidence.
  • Good understanding of Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems and continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong ability to evaluate Root Cause Analysis, corrective actions and evidence of effectiveness before recommending closure of findings.
  • Excellent report-writing, professional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and sound judgement skills, with the ability to identify systemic and repetitive compliance issues.
  • High level of integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and objectivity, with the ability to avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Good interpersonal, diplomatic and interviewing skills when dealing with operational, technical and management personnel.
  • Structured, methodical and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of an audit team

Application procedure

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Excel and electronic audit, compliance and records-management systems.
