PROJECT CO-
ORDINATOR
(1 position)
Duty station: Yumbe (Bidibidi Refugee Settlement)
Reporting to: WASH Manager Contract duration: 1 Year (renewable depending on
availability of funds)
Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator, with support from the Program Lead and Networks is responsible for the day-to-day
WASH coordination around the planning and implementation of activities under the project in Bidibidi refugee
settlement and host community in Yumbe District.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities General:
• Support needs assessments, project reviews, and post-project impact assessments as needed and
advised.
• Actively participate in preparation of proposals and budget development jointly with the project team
members.
• Produce detail implementation plan for the project in the host community and refugees.
• Periodically, update and ensure that progress in accordance with the plan.
• Ensure that WASH projects are implemented in a timely and professional manner, according to goal,
objectives, and indicators and in line with VcA, UNHCR, OPM, Local government and donor
requirements.
• Conduct regular monitoring and technical support visits to project sites.
• Actively participate in the review of WASH activity plan, Spending plan and procurement plan and
ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinates project activities in line with the workplan to achieve optimal project outputs and
outcomes in line with VcA/donor procedures and targets.
Reporting:
• Provide inputs to implementation plans and activity/monthly/ Quarterly and Annual reports;
• Identify, document lessons learned and best practices with support of the M&E Officer.
• Prepare and submit well written success stories.
• Representation and coordination with relevant partners in Bidibidi context on issues around WASH
• Actively participate in the required and relevant technical working groups meetings
• Participate in relevant coordination meetings concerning the project.
• Regular coordination with local government actors and relevant district offices; OPM, UNHCR and
other WASH partners.
Human Resource Management
• Ensure the WASH Officers have weekly and monthly targets;
• Conduct weekly or monthly meeting to achieve targets;
• Provide technical support through coaching and mentorship of WASH Officers for quality
implementation of project activities.
• Ensure procurement request are put on system for approval and finance requested accordingly
• Initiate timely purchase requisition of project goods/services;
Accountability
• Sensitize all stakeholders (beneficiaries, service providers, partners, government and other) on feedback
and complaint mechanisms implemented by VcA Uganda
• Upon receipt of a complaint or feedback, ensure that it is correctly documented following correct
reporting procedures
• Understand VcA’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies, ensure adherence to these policies and
that project activities are implemented with a “Do No Harm” approach.
Minimum requirements
Knowledge & Experience:
• University degree in Environmental or public health, Social sciences, Development studies or other
related fields from a reputable institution.
• 5+ years’ experience in WASH, preferably in a humanitarian setting (refugee settlement, camps, rural
development, or emergency response).
Skills:
• High level of networking capacities.
• Experience of data analysis software (Kobo Collect, M-Water and SPSS) is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal.
• Able to bridge differences and bring people together from different backgrounds.
• Motivated to work independently / self-managing.
• Good computer skills: Ms Excel and Ms Word.
• Self-motivator, able to take initiatives with limited supervision.
• Ability to drive a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license is a MUST.
