Description
JOB PURPOSE
- The Emergency Medicine Physician provides prompt, high-quality, and compassionate clinical care to patients presenting to Nakasero Hospital’s Accident & Emergency (A&E) unit and other departments.
- The role is responsible for rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, treatment and appropriate referral or admission of patients across the full spectrum of medical, surgical, obstetric, and pediatric and trauma emergencies.
- The role holder is expected to uphold Nakasero Hospital’s commitment to world-class, patient and family-centred emergency care, working collaboratively with clinical and support teams to safeguard patient safety and experience at every point of contact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess, resuscitate and stabilize clinical emergencies
- Participate in diagnosis, treatment, and perform emergency procedures
- Immediate management and transfer of critically ill patients to critical care units.
- Consultation and coordination of MDT in emergency care services.
- Clinical leadership, teaching and supervision in the emergency unit
- Disposition, continuity of care and patient communication.
- Deputize for the HOD and provide leadership and oversight of departmental clinical, administrative, and operational activities
- Ensure timely communication, documentation, and reporting
- Observe patient-and-family-centered care, ethics, and medical-legal compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Master of medicine in Emergency Medicine (MMed EM)
- Fully licensed by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC)
- ATLS, ACLS Certifications
- Experience in critical care is an added advantage.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience as EM Specialist.
