Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026/2027 Scholarship Call for the Leaders in Teaching (LiT) Uganda Program. Applications are now open through Scholarships — LGF – LGF Scholarship Portal
This scholarship initiative forms a vital part of the five-year (2025–2030) Leaders in Teaching Uganda Program, a flagship Mastercard Foundation-supported effort implemented by a consortium led by LGF and UNICEF, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports. The program aims to transform secondary education by strengthening teaching quality across 2,091 schools nationwide.
Empowering future women educators in STEM and ICT
The first scholarship batch targets 400 academically talented but economically disadvantaged young women pursuing teacher training, with a strong focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) education.
Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate commitment to becoming secondary school teachers in these critical subjects. Dedicated slots are reserved for inclusion:
- 5% for persons with disabilities
- 7% for refugees or individuals from marginalised communities
By removing financial barriers, the program enables passionate young women to access quality teacher training, contribute to closing the gender gap in STEM education, and serve as role models for girls across Uganda.
