Medecins Sans Frontieres – Support Unit Kampala (SUKA) is looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position below.

Job Title: Purchasing Officer

Level: 05.

Duty Station: Kampala

Number of Positions: 1

Supervisor: Procurement Supervisor

Contract Duration: 1 year (Renewable)

Expected Start Date: 1st May 2026

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing day-to-day purchasing activities in the Support Unit Kampala Office according to MSF protocols and standards to ensure an optimal running of the mission.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing on a day-to-day basis the purchasing activities of the supply office, analyzing market sources and competitive pricing conditions.
  • Constantly assessing the local market, seeking products and suppliers that offer the best value for money and negotiating prices in order to guarantee the best quality and pricing for MSF goods and commodities.
  • Managing the administrative and accounting procedures related to purchases: completing purchase orders, checking delivery notes (against orders), updating information on purchase lists after purchases are made.
  • Filling and archiving all documents related to the procurement.
    Data encoding and information management in MSF Enterprise Resource Planning system (Unifield).
  • Execution and follow-up of orders confirmed to suppliers in a timely manner with respect to lead-time requirement including
  • Stock items, consumables, and office supplies and maintain up to date the Support Unit Kampala lead time follow up.
  • Process suppliers’ invoices for payment and ensure that suppliers receive their payments on time.
  • Accurately maintaining the purchasing databases of the organization.
  • Following up and liaise with other sub-departments on good deliveries by suppliers to ensure un-interrupted supply chain process.
  • Assisting in reception control process with the storekeeper.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
  • Committed and adhere to MSF Principles.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management; Procurement & Logistics Management; Business Administration (specialization in Procurement). A certificate in CIPS is an added advantage.

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in a similar role. Previous working experience with MSF or other INGO is an asset.

Competences/Skills: Must be computer literate word, outlook, excel). High level of organization and planning skills. High level of integrity and accountability. Results and Quality Oriented; Teamwork;

Flexibility; Mobility Able to work with Multi-disciplinary and Multicultural People and with flawless communication.

Language: English is essential. French is an added advantage.
