Role Description
Role Overview: The Project Manager – HereWeGrow provides strategic leadership,
implementation oversight, and strong funder alignment. The role drives execution excellence
through structured performance management, including oversight of the Performance Metrics
Framework (PMF), milestone tracking, and accountability systems that translate donor expectations
into clear field-level priorities and measurable outcomes. Working in close coordination with District
Project Managers, the Project Coordinator ensures alignment of HWG-specific components,
performance frameworks, and donor commitments while respecting established district
management structures.
The Project Coordinator – HWG does not have direct line management responsibility over district
field teams but works through established district leadership structures to ensure effective delivery
of HWG-specific commitments
Specific Role/Responsibilities
Program Performance & Adaptive Management
• Provide overall strategic oversight to ensure implementation aligns with donor commitments,
learning agenda, and organizational priorities.
• Coordinate implementation and continuous strengthening of the Performance Metrics
Framework (PMF) across HWG districts.
• Track progress against milestones, outcome indicators, and income-related targets across
districts.
• Facilitate structured HWG performance review sessions with District Project Managers and
jointly develop corrective action plans where gaps are identified.
• Strengthen execution, accountability systems, and performance visibility across teams.
• Maintain strong quality standards and consistency in field delivery.
• Monitor overall program progress across districts and workstreams.
• Ensure strong integration between agricultural productivity, aggregation models, collective
marketing, and income-generation pathways.
• Ensure monthly PMF dashboards are updated and reviewed across all HWG districts.
• Validate milestone evidence before submission to donor and Partnerships team.
• Track income progression benchmarks and escalation triggers.
Leadership, Coordination & Team Strengthening
• Provide technical guidance and coordination support to District Project Managers on HWGspecific priorities and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with District Project Managers to ensure HWG priorities are reflected in district
workplans and implementation plans.
• Facilitate cross-district learning, problem-solving, and sharing of best practices.
• Strengthen collaboration across agriculture, IGA, data, finance, and operations functions.
• Strengthen relationships with district leadership and ecosystem partners.
Learning & Reporting
• Oversee delivery of the HereWeGrow learning agenda, ensuring timely documentation of
lessons, innovations, and scalable models.
• Collaborate closely with VENN to ensure evidence informs adaptive programming.
• Coordinate consolidation of district inputs into high-quality donor reports, internal updates,
and strategic briefs in collaboration with the Partnerships and Reporting teams.
Required Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development,
or a related field; a Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added
advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in agricultural programming, coffee or export
crop value chains, or market-systems development, including demonstrated experience
managing multi-district programs or complex implementation portfolios.
• Proven experience managing donor-funded initiatives, performance frameworks, or learningfocused programs.
• Strong understanding of smallholder coffee systems and rural livelihoods in Uganda.
