Job Details:
The Farm Manager to oversee daily farm operations, optimize productivity, and ensure sustainable agricultural practices. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on farming experience, and a deep understanding of modern agricultural techniques.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily farming activities, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting.
- Ensure efficient use of resources (land, labor, equipment, and inputs) to maximize yield and profitability.
- Implement and monitor crop rotation, soil management, and sustainable farming practices.
- Oversee animal husbandry, feeding programs, breeding, and health management.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and biosecurity measures.
- Recruit, train, and manage farm workers, ensuring high productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
- Schedule work assignments and monitor performance to meet farm objectives.
- Prepare and manage farm budgets, control costs, and optimize expenditure.
- Maintain records of farm operations, including production data, inventory, and financial reports.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm machinery, tools, and infrastructure.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of farm inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides).
- Implement health and safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and distributors to ensure smooth farm-to-market operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 4 years of farm management experience.
- Strong knowledge of modern farming techniques, irrigation systems, and pest/disease control.
- Proficiency in farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing weather/seasonal conditions.
- Ability to think outside the box in developing campaigns and promotional strategies.
