Job Summary (Main Purpose)

Stock controller maintain inventory, replenishing items according to needs and implementing orders, transfers, issuing,and stock takes. Stock controllers must also be adept planners who can use purchases data to gauge when and how much to restock. Adaptability is important to this role, as they must always be on the lookout for changes in inventory.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain Stock Levels. Monitor inventory and forecast demand to ensure availability without overstocking.
  • Manage Orders & Transfers. Process purchase orders, track deliveries, handle internal transfers, and dispose of obsolete items.
  • Receive Supplies. Check deliveries for quality, expiry, and accuracy; complete Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
  • Organize Storage. Keep storerooms clean and items well-labelled; implement FIFO/FEFO; manage stock as per preference cards; record storage temperatures daily.
  • Inventory Recording. Keep accurate records of stock movement in the system and on stock cards; report regularly to relevant departments.
  • Conduct Stock Takes. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts; reconcile physical stock with system records.
  • Ensure Correct Issuance. Match issued stock with approved requisitions; ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Support Tasks. Return discontinued stock, attend meetings/trainings, and stay updated on departmental communications.


Key Skills and Competencies

Qualifications

  • Diploma degree in procurement and supply chain management, stores management.

Experience

  • At least 1 year in stock management.
