Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a public Limited
Company, owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, and holds the
following operational licences. System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage
Transmission Grid, Bulk Power Supply, Import and Export of Power, and; Public
Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre).

of:
Job Title : Manager Information Technology
Department : ICT Department
Reports to : Head ICT
Job Purpose
The Manager Information Technology is accountable for directing the information
technology of the company and for all IT functions including critical business
applications, IT infrastructure, computer program development, and computer
systems operations. Prepares plans and budgets for IT programs and projects,
supervises IT staff and aligns the ICT strategy with the corporate Business Plan.
Key Result Areas
Evaluate business needs and plan for improvements in the information
system per the Company strategy.
Develop frameworks for and evaluate the computer infrastructure to
conform to the overall Company policies and in particular IT policies.
Develop frameworks for and evaluate business application requirements,
design, implementation, and support to conform to the overall Company
policies and particular IT policies.
Assess the IT organization and develop staff per the IT strategy and Human
Resource policy.
Plan and support effective, reliable IT-enabled services that meet the
company’s IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery goals.
Actively participate in the development and implementation of the ICT
strategy
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or
Physical sciences (Maths or Physics) or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
or related IT field.
Must have Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field.
Must have an IT professional certificate(s) such as Microsoft, Cisco,
Oracle, CISA or ITIL
Certification in project management such as Prince2 or PMP is an added
advantage
7-10 Years’ experience and exposure to enterprise IT environments of
which 5 should be at a Senior Level in a large reputable organisation.
Significant experience working with SAN Storage, Virtualization, LAN, and
WAN technologies.
Working knowledge and experience in API designs, standards, and
governance processes
Knowledge of scalable IT-enabled services in a cloud-based
environment and architecting for a cloud hybrid approach is essential.
Expert proficiency in project planning, developing, and implementing IT
systems.
Must have good analytical and communication skills.
Can demonstrate a background of personal and strategic leadership.
Highly motivated to drive self and others to the highest levels of
individual and team performance.
