Job Purpose
Our client in the manufacturing sector is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the above position.
Procurement Officer will be responsible for evaluating suppliers, maintaining relationships, approving products, and ensuring the cost-effective procurement of materials, parts, or goods.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Roles
• Compile information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services
• Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers to the department originating the requests.
• Respond to internal customers and external suppliers’ inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations
• Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries or quality issues
• Review requisition orders in order to verify accuracy terminology and specifications
• Prepare maintain and review purchasing files, reports and price lists
• Compare prices, specifications and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers
• Track the status of requisitions, contracts and orders and Review costs of orders, and forward to Accounts Department and make sure that the company meets its contractual obligation of timely payments to suppliers
• Check shipments on arrival to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and the goods are to specifications and also liaises with quality to test materials for conformance to approved standards
• Compare suppliers’ invoices with proforma invoices and ensure that orders are accurate
• Locate suppliers using catalogues and internet.
• Maintain knowledge of all organizational and government rules affecting purchasing and provide information about these rules to vendors and staff members
• Monitor supplier performance, recommend suppliers and order modification when necessary
• Tracking and analyzing sales plans vs production plans and making sure they are in synchrony with the stock movement reports
• Monitor and report on Customs ware house and customs issues
• Perform buying duties where necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
• Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a similar role in a busy Manufacturing environment.
• Proven work experience as a Procurement Officer.
• Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
