Job Details:
Key Responsibilities
Program Support and Reporting - 50%
• Support program team in tracking cost allocations across various projects and ensuring compliance with funder regulations
• Work closely with finance leadership to ensure compliance with institutional funder compliance requirements
• Analyze and monitor projects’ & grant funding, cash balances and expenses to keep the program/project team informed of burn rate status/issues.
• Work with project directors to comply with funder’s financial terms and conditions to manage financial deliverables, monitor spending, project/program allocations, request amendments, and plan spend-out.
Accounting and Financial Reporting - 25%
• Maintenance of books of accounts covering processing of payments, preparation and maintenance of cash books, bank reconciliations, uploading to Sage Intacct, JEs and managing financial filing system.
• Monthly reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts (Staff ledgers, Payroll accounts and other accounts).
• Reconcile, close monthly accounts and help with facilitation of external audits.
• Payroll preparation and administration of employee compensation.
• Maintain working knowledge of Uganda employment and payroll regulations in order to ensure organizational compliance with all appropriate labor laws.
Budget Management and Forecasting (20%)
• Collaborate with departmental leaders to build team budgets aligned with funding sources.
• Support annual budgeting process, with direction from Director of Finance and CEO
• Participate in quarterly forecasting process for the global team
• Administrative - (5%)
• Administer and manage the renewal of office rental agreements, internet, and other service or goods contracts.
• Liaise with external support providers including but not limited to attorneys, logistics management, etc
Competencies and Qualifications
Competencies
• Proven knowledge of financial forecasting, corporate finance, and information analysis
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in spreadsheets, MS Office, and financial software applications
• Strong adherence to deadlines
• Strong cross-cultural awareness and passion for working in a diverse environment
• Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking) in English. Must be able to express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely
• Must be flexible with working hours to communicate with international offices
• Proven ability to work independently
Qualifications
• Minimum qualifications: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in finance and accounting
• Must be legally authorized to work in Uganda
• Experience working with Bilateral or Multilateral funders such as Global Fund, Gavi, USAID a strong plus but not required
