Nature and Scope
To strategically support the development and maintenance of ICT systems and infrastructure, including the deployment of the School ICT resources.

1. Professional Qualifications
• Possess a minimum of a degree in Computer Science and/or IT certification from a good university
• Possess Certification in networking skills (CISCO) and Hardware maintenance (A+)
• Possess certification in Microsoft systems administration (MSSE)
• Show evidence of recent professional growth
• Give evidence of previous successful IT support experience
• learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
• Plan, direct and coordinate activities related to the IT of each department at HIS.
• Demonstrate a life congruent with our Statement of Faith of Heritage International School
• Previous travel and/or IT administrative experience preferred.
1. Experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with an IT company or in a similar capacity and environment
The candidate must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
• Computer hardware and software systems and programs.
• Computer networks, network administration and network installation.
• Computer troubleshooting.
• Computer viruses and security.
• E-mail and internet programs.
The candidate must demonstrate the following skills:
• Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Decision making skills.
• Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting spreadsheet, word-processing, graphics and website development programs at a highly proficient level.
1. Major Responsibilities and Duties
The IT Assistant/ technician will need to have a wide knowledge of operating systems, IP networking, hardware and software.
Should be able to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Ensuring the Heritage has current hardware /software, and equipment is in good working condition.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
• Be familiar with all hardware and software
• Be familiar with network operating system
• Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
• Train staff about potential uses of existing technology
• Train staff about new and potential use
• Provide individual training and support on request
• Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
• Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
• Monitor and maintain technologies
• Troubleshoot all technology issues
• Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
• Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
• Research current and potential resources and services
• Provide network access to all staff and students
• Install workstations
• Connect and set up hardware
• Load all required software
• Provide network accounts and passwords as required
• Monitor security of all technology
• Install and maintain passwords
• Input and maintain IP addresses
• Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status
• Ensure installation of lock out programs
• Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
• Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal
• Electrical Department tasks:
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replacing damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
• Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as MACHINE REPAIR and MAINTENANCE
