Job Details:
Key responsibilities;
• Moderate Focus Group Discussions (FGD)
• Conduct face-to-face in-depth interviews
• Assist in development of data collection tools, Interview, FGD guides & SOPs
• Transcribe qualitative data in effectively and promptly
Conduct community meetings, participant observations and Key informant interviews
• Work with social science and data collection teams to agree on a coding framework
• Participate in analysis of coded data
• Support feedback and discussion sessions with communities
• Adhere to the recruitment strategies, and plans, and work closely with community stakeholders in the recruitment of participants.
• Participate in trial-related community engagement activities
Provide adequate, accurate trial related information at community engagement activities.
• Write prompt periodic reports on the conduct of trial related engagement activities.
• Work with the CEO, to ease dialogue between stakeholders, participants, and study team
• In tandem with the CEO, address trial communities’ concerns, myths, and misconceptions.
Collect accurate locator data in accordance with participant preferences.
• Participate actively in trial participant retention strategies.
• Participate in data cleaning, reviewing, entry, and quality control procedures in a timely manner.
• Play a part in all project risk management interventions.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• A degree in Social Work and Administration, Development studies, and any other related fields.
• Previous experience with qualitative data collection methods- FGDs, KIIs, IDIs.
Experience working on public health/social science projects with good qualitative data analysis.
• Ability to foster linkages, grass root partnerships and collaborations with relevant stakeholders.
• Be sensitive to the norms, values and community perspectives that could impact across the project life.
• Up to date GCP/HSP certification.
• Eloquence in English and Luganda (written and spoken).
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Participatory epidemiological methods such as participatory rural assessment.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Experience working in fishing communities and human subjects’ research is an added advantage.
