Job Details:

Key Responsibilities and duties:
• Planning course material and activities
• Assessing the students’ progress (e.g. homework, exam grades, etc.)
• Building trusting relationships with students
• Supervisions /coordination of Educations in-house and external training /activities
• Office business i.e, meeting with walk -in refugees / appointments and reporting.
• Organize classroom lectures and coursework
• Prepare materials and activities
• Assign homework and interesting exercises
• Identify students with special requirements and create individualized plans
• Determine exam and assignment grades
• Provide feedback based on workload and classroom behaviour
• Keep a record of students’ attendance and grades
• Research new language teaching methods
• Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict


Minimum qualifications and experience
• BSc degree in English and Literature from a recognized university.
• At least three (3) years of experience in a similar role of teaching, preferably in a humanitarian NGO.
• Experience in teaching English language in a refugee setting.
• Additional Professional training certificate in English language is an added advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
• Knowledge of the local languages will be an added advantage (Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda, Somali, Ekirundi)

Required Skills and Competencies
• Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented with proven ability to contribute to written reports.
• Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.
• Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment.
• Outstanding computer skills with at least proven knowledge in 365 MS packages.
• Experience in conducting online classes using common virtual platforms like Moodle, Zoom, Teams, collect among others.
• Experience working with the refugee community is an added advantage 7. Very good pastoral sense, listening abilities and inter-personal skills.
• Work with integrity, impartiality, fairness, confidentiality, and the ability to respect confidence.
• Demonstrable experience of working in an active team.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills used in planning own work and ability to work to targets and deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
