Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disabilities in Uganda (CoRSU) was

established in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization. CoRSU provides

Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults

with disability.

Established in 2006, CoRSU delivers specialized care to children with disabilities, particularly

from underserved communities through the CBID program. The hospital

conducts an average of 3,000 surgeries annually and has supported over 70,000

Surgeries, reaching more than 100,000 people with rehabilitation services. CoRSU

works in partnership with government, donors, and communities to strengthen referral

systems, promote inclusion, and restore mobility, dignity, and hope across Uganda

CoRSU Hospital seeks to fill the following vacancy:


Job Title: Plumber

Number of vacancies: 01

Payment Grade: Full-time

Reporting to: Estates Officer

Department: Estates


Overall job objective:

To handle all plumbing installations, fixations, repairs, monitoring both water usage and

sewage disposal, and related tasks in the Hospital

Functional Outputs/Activities per key performance area:

Key result Areas

•Plumbing installations, piping fixations, repairs and related tasks safely and

efficiently handled

•Accurate documentation

•Timely communication of faulty equipment

•Water meters inspected, monitored and usage reports submitted

•Sewage piles up, fumigation and emptying of septic tanks monitored and sewerage

maintained

•Timely repair of faulty equipment and systems

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services For People with Disability in Uganda.

Specific Job responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair plumbing systems in the hospital

• Install, repair and maintain/service the water treatment equipment and system

• Install, repair and maintain underground storm, sanitary and water piping

systems

• Install, repair and maintain water heaters, conditioners, plumbing fixtures,

appliances like taps, sinks, tubs and toilets

• Inspection and maintenance of the main water supply (inclusive of water pump)

and water levels in the hospital

• Inspecting, monitoring of sewage pile up.

• Inspect the plumbing system to detect and locate leakages and observe pressure

gauges

• Schedule emptying of the septic tanks

• Participate in the fumigation of septic tanks and kitchens

• Write reports regarding plumbing work in the hospital

Financial Management

•Continuously identify areas for improved efficiency.

Risk Management

•Shall be responsible for any company property, tools, equipment, or assets entrusted

to their custody during the engagement and to protect property from loss, theft, or

damage.

Compliance

•Adherence to all CoRSU Policies and Procedures and regulations to the best of their

abilities.


Required Qualifications, Experience, skills and competencies

Diploma in Plumbing or Water and Sewerage Engineering or Advanced certificate in

plumbing from a recognized institution

Experience of 3 years in an institutional hospital setting

Knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures

for installation and maintenance

Advanced Diploma in Plumbing or Water and Sewerage Engineering would be an added

advantage

Advanced certificate qualification in water distribution & plumbing works in residential,

Commercial and industrial buildings is desired

Experience working in a busy environment
